waiting for winter’s thaw

Over the land freckled with snow half-thawed
The speculating rooks at their nests cawed
And saw from elm-tops, delicate as flowers of grass,
What we below could not see, Winter pass.   -Edward Thomas (1878-1917)

Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope everyone takes some time to spend it with their loved ones. I’ve been hinting about this shoot and posting sneak peeks on my Instagram account. I teamed together with Kayo Davis of True Radiance Photography and put together a styled engagement shoot titled Waiting for Winter’s Thaw. In Japan there is a holiday called setsubun that celebrates the transition from winter to spring. It’s celebrated the first week of February and they consider it the first day of spring. The inspiration of the shoot comes from that transition. Winter has not completely left but there are the sure signs of spring’s arrival. I chose to do an engagement as it is the start of a new transition in life with the anticipation of the wedding in the future.

We were able to pull together an amazing team of vendors and couldn’t have done it without them.
